Warrior Bridge is a multi-disciplinary studio that trains mind, body and spirit through yoga, martial arts, meditation and acrobatics. Warrior Bridge lies in the shadow of the Brooklyn Bridge, in a modern ground floor space at 250 Front Street in the South Street Seaport. Our weekly schedule includes over 40 group classes in yoga, martial arts, acroyoga and meditation for all ages and experience levels.
Warrior Bridge was founded in 2014 after a chance meeting between Gary Snyder & Sean Langhaus.
Gary, a Seventh Degree Black Belt in Aikido with over thirty-five years of martial arts training, envisioned a new studio concept combining the Aikido practice with Tai Chi, Jiu Jitsu, Yoga and Meditation, bridging disciplines to allow men and women to be compassionate, strong, and wise “modern warriors”. Sean was a full time yoga teacher with a deep background in martial arts and fitness, who also envisioned a space where yoga, martial arts and acroyoga are practiced in tandem.
Together they would open the original Warrior Bridge at 275 Water Street in January 2015. In October 2016, Warrior Bridge will move around the corner to 250 Front Street, with a larger studio space and facilities which include a second smaller studio, spacious changing rooms and showers for men and women.
In addition to its schedule of weekly group classes Warrior Bridge offers workshops, training programs and private instruction.

Thai Massage Training with Carolyn COhen

Learn the ancient art of Thai Massage: a blend of acupressure, joint mobilization, and passive yoga stretches accessible to all. This healing, spiritual art is both relaxing and energizing, deep and balancing as it improves flexibility, reduces tension, stimulates internal organs, and balances the receiver's energy system while also reciprocating healing energy to the giver.
This foundational course focuses on the receiver in supine (face up), prone (face down), and seated positions for a 90-minute sequence. Content includes proper body mechanics, philosophy, anatomy, energy cultivation & self-care. Highly applicable for yoga instructors, body therapists of any kind, personal trainers, physical therapists as well as those with general interest in developing skills of therapeutic touch.
Carolyn Cohen, MSTCM, has been practicing bodywork for the past 18 years. She learned Traditional Thai Massage in Northern Thailand in 2002 and her teaching is dedicated to the purity of that lineage. She is also skilled in Swedish/deep tissue/intuitive massage and acupuncture, which she has practiced alongside a rich and varied study of yoga. In 2005, she co-developed AcroYoga.org and leads Immersions and Teacher Trainings globally. She is known for her joyful, precise and reverent teaching style.www.carolyncohen.org

Are you ready to live like a warrior? Throughout our 10 weekend teacher training program you will transform the way you move, gain a newfound understanding of yoga and movement while cultivating your voice as a teacher.
In our training aspiring teachers will learn a system of yoga, movement and meditation techniques from which they can design practices that range from restorative and healing to vigorous flows incorporating strength training and advanced asana. Training will be led by some of NYC's most respected yoga and movement teachers including Sean Langhaus, Emily Lesinski, Sam Chase, Isaac Pena, Erin Vaughn and David Rome.

At AcroWarrior we believe in the transformative power of Acro, the power that AcroYoga and Partner Acrobatics has to transform an individual, a community or even the world.
Starting February 10th at Warrior Bridge we commence NYC's first Acro Teacher Training. Our 7 weekend teacher training program will equip movement teachers with the tools and methodology to share the practice of partner Acro. Each weekend will consist of skill refinement, conditioning, practice teaching, lectures and group discussions to cultivate our voices as Acro teachers. In our training we will offer tools for intelligent warm ups, clear explanations and well thought out progressions as well as an emphasis on community building and safe play.
Through out training we will also spend significant time refining and developing our personal movement practices through handstand and flexibility training, acrobatic movement and conditioning as well as other movement arts. Our results in partner acro are going to be intimately affected by the quality of our personal movement practice and for that reason we also must also understand how to train the two in unison.

Aikido is a modern Japanese martial art that teaches coordination of mind and body to develop calmness in action and the strongest human condition. Aikido techniques can be effective without harming the attacker, which allows practice to be comfortable, and ethical self-defense to be an ideal.
Kokikai Aikido was founded by Sensei Shuji Maruyama, an “uchideshi” (student who lived in the dojo) of the creator of Aikido, Morehei Ueshiba. Sensei Maruyama was one of the first Aikido instructors sent from Japan to America, arriving in 1966. There are now over fifty Kokikai dojos throughout the world. Gary Snyder Sensei has been training under Sensei Maruyama since 1981.
Yoga as a spiritual practice dates back thousands of years to the times of ancient India. Ancient yogis worked with their minds by utilizing postures breath work and meditation. The yoga we practice today is a much more recent development. Modern day yoga draws on these ancient practices but also integrates scientific knowledge of the human body and movement techniques drawing from martial arts, gymnastics and dance. AcroYoga is a form of partner yoga that blends the practices of yoga, thai massage, and partner acrobatics. These three lineages form the foundation of a unique practice that cultivates trust, connection, and playfulness. Built upon the framework of cultivating skillful partnership, AcroYoga provides a vehicle to explore positive and supportive relationships with an emphasis on honest, clear and compassionate communication. In each class we will explore the roles of the base, flyer and spotter. Come with or without a patner!
Tai Chi Ch’uan is a centuries old Chinese “internal” martial art. Millions of people around the world practice it daily for its many health benefits. As a martial art, its strategy is to overcome an opponent’s speed and strength with stillness and softness using a relaxed and connected body. The Tai Chi taught at Warrior Bridge is Grandmaster William C.C.Chen’s 60 movement form. Master Chen has devoted his life to the study of body mechanics and the use of Tai Chi for self-defense and health. He has been a teacher since 1952. In 1965, he established William C. C. Chen Tai Chi Chuan in New York City’s Chelsea area. Students with over twenty years of experience with Master Chen will be teaching at Warrior Bridge.
Meditation at Warrior Bridge draws from the Shambhala tradition based in Tibetan Buddhist philosophy and psychology with a completely contemporary body of practices in order to bring the deep benefits of meditation into everyday life. Grounded in mindfulness-awareness meditation, these practices include a wide array of meditation techniques, along with other transformative tools and teachings for waking up and being more present and compassionate in our life.
These teachings, available to anyone of any background or spiritual tradition, enable us to befriend our own minds and hearts, skillfully work with fear, build confidence, and ultimately provide a practical means to engaging our life – our relationships, work, play, family and friends – wholeheartedly.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a self defense system that focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting. Jiu Jitsu promotes the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger assailant by using proper technique, leverage, and most notably, taking the fight to the ground. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has been proven effective time and time again as a practical and effective martial art for both sport and self defense scenarios.
