Warrior Bridge is a multi-disciplinary studio that trains mind, body and spirit through yoga, martial arts, meditation and acrobatics. Warrior Bridge lies in the shadow of the Brooklyn Bridge, in a modern ground floor space at 250 Front Street in the South Street Seaport. Our weekly schedule includes over 40 group classes in yoga, martial arts, acroyoga and meditation for all ages and experience levels.
Warrior Bridge was founded in 2014 after a chance meeting between Gary Snyder & Sean Langhaus.
Gary, a Seventh Degree Black Belt in Aikido with over thirty-five years of martial arts training, envisioned a new studio concept combining the Aikido practice with Tai Chi, Jiu Jitsu, Yoga and Meditation, bridging disciplines to allow men and women to be compassionate, strong, and wise “modern warriors”. Sean was a full time yoga teacher with a deep background in martial arts and fitness, who also envisioned a space where yoga, martial arts and acroyoga are practiced in tandem.
Together they would open the original Warrior Bridge at 275 Water Street in January 2015. In October 2016, Warrior Bridge moved around the corner to 250 Front Street, with a larger studio space and facilities which include a second smaller studio, spacious changing rooms and showers for men and women.
In addition to its schedule of weekly group classes Warrior Bridge offers workshops, training programs and private instruction.

Inversions & Handstands with Adrian McCavitt
February 23 - 24, 9am - 5pm
Adrian has been passionate about movement his whole life. He has been finding his way in life through practicing many different forms of movement such as martial arts, gymnastics, skating, rock climbing and running. Most recently, his path has led him to a dedicated practice of yoga and hand balancing. Adrian’s practice is based on searching for and aspiring to the highest level of potential in himself so that he can share his experiences with each of his students as it pertains to their individual practice. Finding and nurturing each student’s potential is the goal of his teaching philosophy. Adrian's classes challenge each student to gain more awareness of themselves, and through orchestrating their own alignment students achieve the choreography of seemingly complex movements. Classes are taught in a fun Vinyasa style with lots of modifications and amplifications. This style ensures that students can continuously challenge themselves and grow their own practice within the sequence, achieving their own personal potential.
All Levels Handstands
Sat. Feb 23, 2 - 4:30pm
This an all levels inversion workshop will take an in depth look at the techniques necessary for proper alignment in handstand, as well as variations such as tuck, straddle, and full position. We will also examine appropriate hand and shoulder technique, torso strength, and the leg/hip intelligence necessary for negotiating inversions. We’ll also work on the mechanics behind more advanced movements such as press handstand, and a few other options for entry’s to handstand. All movement possibilities will be offered with modifications and amplifications, so wherever you are in your practice, the workshop will be appropriate for you.
Intermediate/Advanced Hand Balancing
Sun. Feb 24, 2 - 4:30pm
This workshop will take the techniques acquired from the all levels workshop and offer more detailed evaluations of alignment. We will work specifically with more flexible positions such as hollow back, scorpion, chest stand, and additional conditioning techniques to improve muscle strength, coordination, and flexibility. A 15 to 30 second freestanding handstand is a prerequisite to attend this class, however exceptions can be made if the practitioner wants to observe on a theoretical level, or participate knowing it is an intermediate to advanced workshop. If the student has the prerequisite strength, stability, and understanding of alignment principals, we will work on conditioning techniques to acquire the strength and coordination for a one arm handstand. Students will leave with a clearer understanding of the drills necessary to practice a one arm handstand, and a clearer path towards how it can be accomplished.

The weekend will be divided up into 4 three hour workshops .
Workshop #1 9am-12pm, Beginner Hand Balance
This class is geared for practitioners who are relatively new to the art of hand balance, or those who want more ideas on how to further refine their basics to lead up to more advanced skills. Advanced practitioners may also find the class useful as far as learning different techniques for teaching the basics.
This workshop will cover physical preparation for handstand training, basic concepts and drills leading up to the handstand, how to overcome restrictions(physical and psychological) that hold people back, and finally how to train for the freestanding handstand.
Topics covered will be:
Physical preparation for the skill work to help tune your body to the practice and aid in injury prevention and longevity
"Proper" Handstand alignment, what attributes are needed to achieve it, and how to improve it
Arm support: learning how to use the body's skeletal structure as a solid base to help understand the handstand as a resting position
Inversion. Introducing the concept to to adults and how to separately build comfort in being upside down before attempting the handstand.
How to perform the wall handstand in a way that directly progresses towards freestanding balance.
Methods to bail the handstand safely on any surface. This is the number one thing that adults who want to learn handstand need to grasp. Once you know how to bail safely, it greatly reduces risk of injury and opens up new possibilities in the practice that otherwise would have been blocked by fear or psychological barrier.
Progressions to cultivate the sensation of what it is to actually balance the handstand.
Methods and details of the handstand entry to build confidence and consistency.
Concepts behind spotting a freestanding handstand to help promote balance and independence.
How to develop a solid freestanding handstand
Workshop #2 2-5pm, Flexibility Development for Hand Balance and Acrobatics
This is an area where many people are lacking. To not be able to express the appropriate range of motion can hinder people from learning or progressing in many acrobatic related skills.
This class will discuss flexibility work as a general concept for broader understanding, and how to develop specific flexibility to help with the skill elements covered in the weekend workshop and beyond.
We will talk about the difference between several different expressions of flexibility: passive, resisted, active, dynamic, and ballistic, and how they can differ from but also complement each other.
The practical portion of the class will be based upon the participants needs and interests. General positions I was planning to cover will be: pancake, pike/forward fold, bridge and general shoulder work, middle split and front split depending on time constraints.
We will talk about the physical and mental connection to the flexibility work, and certain lead-up drills and release techniques to help get further into the positions and increase range of motion.
Workshop #3 9am-12pm, Intermediate/Advanced Hand Balance
Prerequisites: at least 10 seconds consistent freestanding handstand with decent form, 30 seconds recommended
This class will focus on building upon the base freestanding handstand, first on detailed refinement of the basics then following progressions of the skill tree all the way up to one arm work depending on the level of the group.
Possible topics include:
Physical preparation for shoulders, wrist, and lower body specific to handstands.
Tuning and calibrating the base handstand to help address and correct asymmetries
Advanced wall work to not only reinforce alignment, but also help build strength, endurance, and flexibility.
Refining of the basic handstand to make it as effortless as possible.
Adding complexity in the balance with basic shapes and movement patterns.
Chaotic movement patterns while maintaining focus on balance
Dynamic handstand work including walking and jumping
Progressions towards the press handstand and stalder press
Progressions towards handstand pushups, or even more advanced variations like tiger bends or 90 degree pushups
Planche development progressions and concepts
Progressions towards the mexican handstand or hollowback
One arm handstand work: a lot goes into this topic, so that depends on the level of the group how far we will get
Workshop #4 2-5pm, Floor Acrobatics
Prerequisites: none. Recommended: be able to cartwheel
This class will explore the art of floor acrobatics from the perspective of learning as an adult. We will go over the necessary physical and mental preparations to help promote a safe and injury-free practice.
Before any skill work the class will first go over how to properly and safely jump, land, and fall on different surfaces(an invaluable ability for anyone, acrobat or not). Once the preparation work has been completed, we will explore skill development from two main perspectives: classic gymnastics/tumbling and tricking/capoeira/street acrobatics.
The two perspectives differ greatly but can complement each other quite well once they have been developed.
The important thing in this art is to be aware of the details. It is very easy in the beginning to build bad habits that set you back for later progressions. This is why it is important to learn solid basics from the beginning.
The idea is not to learn handstands or acrobatics over a weekend, these are skills that take years to understand. The idea behind the weekend is for the participants to be able to see the skills from a different perspective and learn concepts that they can take home and add into their own practice to help further their development.
I see handstands and acrobatics not as something absolute, but a fun and valuable tool towards developing greater self-awareness.

Join our Monday evening Introduction to Aikido classes! Only $5 for up to 4 classes. It is recommended, but not required, that 4 classes be completed before joining in the aikido classes offered at other times. The introductory classes will focus on basic aikido practice so that students can learn ki (energy) exercises, ukemi (falling safely), and basics of aikido techniques before practicing with higher level students.
New students can also elect to purchase 10 classes for $75.

How much does a single class at Warrior Bridge cost?
Can I stop by for a single class without a membership?
Can I share my new student special with a friend?
—> New student specials can only be used by the individual who purchased the special. However, all the full priced packages can be shared amongst two people.
Can a new student special be used for both the martial arts and yoga/acroyoga tracks?
—> The martial arts and yoga & acroyoga tracks have separate new student specials. While they are both $75/5 classes, only one can be purchased and they are applicable separately.
Does the unlimited monthly membership include acro yoga and martial arts?
—> At the moment, unlimited monthly membership is specific to either the acro yoga and yoga classes, or the martial arts classes.
Do I need to bring my own mat to yoga?
—> No. Unless you would like to use your own, we have multiple mats in the studio for general use.
Do I need to know how to do a handstand to come to handstand class?
—> No. Our handstand classes will prepare and condition you for handstands regardless of your current level of practice.
I have never done acro yoga but am curious, where do I start?
—> Come take Acro 101 with us, offered 6 times a week. We will provide you with the foundations necessary for your acroyoga journey.
Do I need to bring a partner to participate in acro yoga?
—> No. You can come alone and you will be paired up to work with people in class.
I have never done yoga. Can I still come to class?
—> Absolutely. Speak to your instructor and inform them of this prior to class, so they may assist where necessary.
Can I come to intermediate acro yoga if I have never done acro yoga?
—> We recommend you take a few open level acro yoga classes and familiarize yourself with the practice before challenging yourself to intermediate.

What is the difference between warrior flow yoga and restorative flow yoga?
—> In warrior flow yoga we work actively to strengthen and stabilize while moving through a vinyasa flow. In restorative flow we slow down and engage in a flow through stretches and some gentle strengthening exercises.
What is the expiration date on class packages?
